The Pentax 17 is a 35mm half frame camera that captures two 17x24mm images on a single frame of film, effectively doubling the number of shots on a standard roll. Held naturally, it shoots vertical images that feel immediately familiar to smartphone users. It offers manual focusing via a 6-zone focus system, manual film advance, an ISO dial supporting speeds from 50 to 3200, and an exposure compensation dial. Seven shooting modes including Full Auto, Slow-speed sync, and Bulb give you flexibility across a wide range of situations. The Albada-type viewfinder displays zone focus settings and includes a close-up compensation frame for macro work.

At the front sits a 25mm fixed lens (equivalent to a 37mm field of view) with an f/3.5 maximum aperture, designed specifically to match the half frame format and finished with HD multi-layer coating for strong clarity and sharpness. The body is built with magnesium alloy top and bottom plates, giving it a sturdy yet lightweight construction with a classic retro aesthetic. Additional features include a 40.5mm filter thread, a rear note holder for tracking your film stock, a manual film rewind crank, and three strap lugs to support both horizontal and vertical shooting orientations.
