The SB-500 is a high-performance LED flash for both DX-format and
FX-format DSLR users who are looking to achieve enhanced imaging
expression.
Guide number of 24/78.7 (m/ft, ISO 100)
The SB-500 provides a guide number of 24/78.7 (m/ft, ISO 100) and coverage
for the angle of view of a 24 mm lens (FX format) or 16 mm lens (DX
format), extending the range of your creative expression.
Bounce the light for beautiful indoor
portraits
The flash head of the SB-500 tilts up to 90 and rotates horizontally 180
to the left and right, reducing unnatural shading.
High-performance LED light is incorporated that is effective for movie
recording and close-up still shooting
The LED light provides output of approx. 100 lx, the highest-class
brightness among products using two AA-size batteries. Illumination with a
surface light source utilizing a diffuser covers the angle of view of a 24
mm lens (FX format). Output level is selectable in three steps (Low, Mid,
High). As the color temperature is 5400K, that is close to sunlight, it
can be naturally used as an auxiliary light during outdoor shooting. The
color information communication function automatically sets the most
appropriate white balance when attached to the D810 or D750. Also,
superior color rendering performance ensures faithful reproduction of a
subject’s color.
Supports the Nikon Creative Lighting
System
Six CLS features out of seven are available: i-TTL mode, Advanced Wireless
Lighting, Modeling flash, FV lock, Flash color information communication,
Auto FP High-speed Sync. Wide-area AF Assist Illuminator is not supported.
In Advanced Wireless Lighting, the SB-500 can be used as a master flash or
remote flash using the camera’s built-in flash as a master.
Easy-to-understand operation
When attached to the D750, the SB-500 is automatically recognized and
flash settings are enabled from the camera’s custom menu. Even commander
mode can be set from the camera.
Compatible with readily available
AA-size batteries
The SB-500 uses two AA-size alkaline or Ni-MH batteries which are
available almost anywhere, so you’ll never run out of power.
