Description
The Nikon Nikkor-P 105mm F2.5 Non-Ai is an early version of Nikon’s highly regarded 105mm F2.5 telephoto lens. The original optical design dates back to the 1950s and uses a five-element, three-group Sonnar-type configuration, which remained in production until the optical redesign of the early 1970s.
With its 105mm focal length and bright f/2.5 maximum aperture, the lens provides a useful perspective for portraiture and general telephoto photography. The relatively long 1.2m minimum focusing distance is typical of this early version.
This is a fully manual-focus, Non-Ai Nikon F-mount lens with a manual aperture ring and traditional meter-coupling prong. It is particularly suited to classic Nikon F-mount film cameras designed for Non-Ai lenses.
The Nikkor-P designation refers to its five-element optical construction. This early Sonnar-type version is distinct from the later 1971 redesign, which changed to a five-element, four-group optical formula.
