Description

The Contax 137 MA Quartz represents one of the most accessible entries into the Contax system, pairing compact handling with the distinctive shooting experience of classic Contax/Yashica-mount Zeiss optics. Its electronically controlled quartz-timed shutter and integrated motor drive provide a modern feel compared to many mechanical SLRs from the same period, while aperture-priority exposure keeps operation fast and intuitive.

Paired with the Carl Zeiss Planar 50mm F1.4 T* AEJ, the combination delivers the rendering character that helped define the Contax systemstrong micro-contrast, smooth tonal transitions, and a natural balance between sharpness and depth. The lens remains highly regarded for everyday photography, portraits, and available-light shooting, making this setup an appealing choice for both collectors and photographers looking to experience classic Zeiss optics on film.
