The RED Digital Cinema DSMC3 LCD Rigid Hinge Upgrade Pack provides an alternate mounting solution for the RED Touch 7.0-inch LCD. Its all-metal hinge and updated monitor arm allow greater clamp pressure to be applied at the hinge, helping the display maintain its selected position during shooting environments where a firmer setup is preferred.

Greater Clamp Pressure

The rigid hinge configuration gives camera operators more control over monitor holding force. The updated monitor arm is specifically intended for use with the Rigid Hinge, creating a matched assembly for the increased clamp pressure this design supports. RED notes that the updated arm should not be used with the original hinge because the additional pressure could damage its components.

Aluminum Construction

The hinge is constructed from aluminum and weighs approximately 0.13 lb, or 58.97 g. It mounts to the RED Touch 7.0-inch LCD and operates within a temperature range of 0 degrees Celsius to 40 degrees Celsius. The specified storage range is minus 20 degrees Celsius to 50 degrees Celsius.

The pack supplies the replacement components and installation hardware required for the upgrade. RED also provides a dedicated installation procedure covering removal of the existing hinge, fitting the replacement rigid hinge and swivel arm, and proper adjustment of the monitor assembly.
