The Sigma 70mm f/2.8 DG Macro Art is a short-telephoto prime lens designed for full-frame Leica L-mount mirrorless cameras, delivering true 1:1 life-size macro reproduction at a minimum focusing distance of just 10.2 inches (0.26m). As part of Sigma’s prestigious Art line within the Global Vision series, it is engineered for maximum optical performance and is equally at home shooting detailed close-up subjects or serving as a versatile portrait and general-purpose prime. It can also be used on APS-C L-mount bodies, where it provides an equivalent focal length of approximately 105mm.
The optical construction features 13 elements in 10 groups, including two FLD (F Low Dispersion) elements, two SLD (Special Low Dispersion) elements, one anomalous partial dispersion/high refractive index element, and two aspherical elements, all working together to minimise chromatic and spherical aberrations for outstanding sharpness and colour accuracy. A Super Multi-Layer Coating suppresses flare and ghosting, while a rounded nine-blade diaphragm ensures smooth, attractive bokeh at any aperture. Autofocus is driven by a coreless DC motor with full-time manual focus override, and the lens body combines Thermally Stable Composite (TSC) materials with a brass bayonet mount and rubber weather-sealing for dust and splash resistance.
