Description

The Sigma APO 150500mm f/56.3 DG OS HSM is a super-telephoto zoom lens designed for full-frame and APS-C DSLR cameras. With its 150500mm focal range, it provides substantial reach while maintaining the flexibility of a zoom, making it particularly useful for wildlife, bird photography, sports, outdoor subjects, and distant details.

The optical construction consists of 21 elements in 15 groups and incorporates three Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements to help control chromatic aberration. The lens provides a 16.4 to 5 angle of view and a maximum magnification of 0.19. Its optical design is intended to provide good detail and controlled color fringing across its extensive telephoto range.

Autofocus is driven by Sigma’s HSM ultrasonic motor, providing fast and relatively quiet focusing, with manual focus control also available. The built-in Optical Stabilizer helps compensate for camera movement when shooting handheld, which is particularly useful at the longer 300500mm focal lengths. The 86mm filter thread and included tripod collar are practical features for a lens of this size.

On Nikon DX-format cameras, the lens provides an angle of view equivalent to approximately 225750mm in 35mm format, extending its reach even further for distant subjects. The Sigma APO 150500mm is therefore a strong choice for photographers who need long telephoto reach without moving to a fixed 500mm lens, particularly for wildlife, bird, sports, and outdoor photography.
