Description

The Canon IXY Digital 80 is a compact digital camera introduced in 2006 and known as the PowerShot SD630 DIGITAL ELPH in North America and the DIGITAL IXUS 65 in other markets. It features a 6.0MP CCD sensor and a compact 3x optical zoom lens covering a practical 35105mm equivalent range.

One of the camera’s defining features is its large 3.0-inch LCD display, which was notably large for its time. Canon also introduced a touch-control dial on the rear, providing a distinctive interface for navigating menus and reviewing images. The Focus Checker function can display the full image alongside a magnified focus area immediately after shooting.

The built-in 35105mm equivalent zoom covers wide-angle to short telephoto perspectives, making the IXY Digital 80 suitable for everyday photography, travel, portraits, and casual snapshots. Its 6.0MP CCD sensor and compact metal-bodied design give it the characteristic look and handling of Canon’s mid-2000s IXY series.

With its slim 20.2mm body, 3.0-inch LCD, optical 3x zoom, and simple shooting controls, the IXY Digital 80 is an appealing compact camera for photographers interested in the design and CCD rendering of early-2000s digital cameras.
