Description

The Canon Model VT is one of Canon’s most distinctive 35mm rangefinder cameras, introduced in the mid-1950s as an advanced Leica Thread Mount system camera. Its defining feature is the unique bottom-mounted trigger film advance, allowing rapid one-handed operation and giving the camera a character unlike any other Canon rangefinder.

Built with exceptional mechanical precision, the VT features a bright combined rangefinder/viewfinder with switchable magnification, making it compatible with a wide range of focal lengths when used with external viewfinders. The camera is fully mechanical, requiring no batteries, and is renowned for its smooth controls, durable construction, and dependable shutter.

Compatible with the extensive Leica Thread Mount (M39) lens system, the Canon VT accepts both Canon Serenar lenses and many Leica-compatible optics, making it a versatile choice for collectors and photographers alike. Today, the Canon Model VT is admired as one of the finest Japanese rangefinders of its era, combining innovative engineering, classic styling, and a uniquely engaging shooting experience.
