Description

The Nikon NIKKOR 135mm F2.8 AI-S is a classic manual-focus telephoto prime lens that combines compact dimensions with outstanding optical performance. Introduced as part of Nikon’s renowned AI-S lineup, it quickly became a favorite among portrait, nature, and stage photographers for its excellent sharpness, natural color rendition, and smooth background blur.

Featuring a 5-element, 5-group optical design, the lens delivers high contrast and impressive resolution throughout the frame, while maintaining the classic rendering that vintage NIKKOR lenses are known for. The 135mm focal length provides flattering perspective compression, making it particularly well suited for portraits, wildlife in controlled settings, sports, concerts, and landscape details.

The bright F2.8 maximum aperture offers excellent subject separation and dependable low-light performance, while Nikon’s precise manual-focus mechanism provides a smooth, well-damped focusing experience that is highly appreciated by both photographers and videographers. Its compact size and relatively light weight make it one of the most portable telephoto lenses in Nikon’s manual-focus lineup.

Compatible with Nikon F-mount film SLRs as well as many modern Nikon DSLR cameras, and easily adaptable to a wide range of mirrorless systems, the Nikon NIKKOR 135mm F2.8 AI-S remains a highly respected vintage lens. It is valued for its reliable mechanical construction, timeless image character, and excellent balance between portability and optical quality.
