Description
The Sigma 17-35mm F2.8-4 EX Aspherical is an ultra-wide zoom lens designed for 35mm SLR cameras. With a 17mm starting focal length, it provides a very wide field of view suited to landscapes, architecture, interiors, and other subjects where a broad perspective is useful.
The lens covers 1735mm with a maximum aperture of F2.84. Its EX-series construction reflects Sigma’s professional lens range of the period, while the optical design uses 15 elements in 14 groups.
Autofocus is supported on the Nikon F mount, with manual focusing also available. The lens focuses as close as 0.5m and uses an 8-blade diaphragm. An 82mm filter thread is provided at the front.
This earlier EX Aspherical version should be distinguished from the later 17-35mm F2.8-4 EX DG Aspherical HSM, which uses a different 16-element, 13-group optical design, 77mm filters, 27cm minimum focusing distance, and 560g weight.
