Description
The Sigma AF 170-500mm F5-6.3 APO is a super telephoto zoom lens designed for photographers who need long reach in a relatively accessible package. Covering up to 500mm, it is well suited for wildlife, sports, and distant subjects where getting physically closer is not possible.

The APO optical design helps control chromatic aberration, which is especially important at longer focal lengths. Image quality is generally strongest when stopped down slightly, delivering better contrast and sharpness across the frame.

Autofocus is driven by the camera body (screw-drive), giving it a more traditional feel compared to modern motorized lenses. The inclusion of a tripod collar makes it easier to handle and balance, particularly during extended shooting sessions.

While not a fast lens, its long zoom range offers strong versatility for telephoto work, making it a practical option for users who want maximum reach without stepping into significantly larger or more expensive super-telephoto systems.
