Description

The Canon RF 16mm F2.8 STM is a compact ultra-wide-angle prime lens designed for Canon EOS R-series mirrorless cameras. Its 16mm focal length provides a broad field of view suited to landscape photography, architecture, interiors, travel, and vlogging.

With a maximum aperture of f/2.8, the lens offers flexibility in lower-light conditions and allows creative control over depth of field, particularly when focusing on nearby subjects. Its minimum focusing distance of 0.13m and maximum magnification of 0.26x support close-up compositions while retaining an expansive background.

The optical construction consists of nine elements in seven groups, including one aspherical element. Canon’s Super Spectra Coating helps reduce flare and ghosting, while the seven-blade circular aperture contributes to smooth out-of-focus rendering.

An STM stepping motor provides autofocus, and the dual-function focus/control ring allows convenient manual focusing or adjustment of selected camera settings. Weighing approximately 165g, this lens is a lightweight option for photographers and video creators seeking an ultra-wide perspective in a compact setup.
